If you have never been involved in an accident before or you have previously just dealt directly with your insurance company then you are probably thinking, “What exactly is Accident Management and why do I need to use Action Claims?”
Let’s start by simplifying some of that annoying insurance jargon so you too can sound like you’ve been in the industry for years!
There are a number of different coverages available but we will stick with the basics and how they affect you in the event of an accident.
This means that regardless of who is to blame for an accident you are able to claim through your own insurance policy to have your vehicle repaired.
In order for your insurance company to pay out for your claim and to repair your vehicle you will be required to pay your policy excess. We will discuss your excess further later.
This coverage means that in the event of an accident where you are to blame your insurer will pay out for the other party’s losses. They will not assist you in dealing with your claim. If you are not to blame for the accident then, again, your insurer will not assist you in making your claim and you will be expected to deal directly with the other party’s insurer.
Your insurer should also pay out for your vehicle in the event of it catching fire or being stolen.
This is similar to Third Party but with the additional fire and theft coverage. If your vehicle catches fire or is stolen then your insurer should pay out. Also to note with both types of Third Party coverage is that in the event of an accident where you are to blame, any passengers’ injuries are covered by the insurance.
With the majority of Fully Comprehensive policy there will be an excess. This is the amount you are required to pay towards your claim when your insurer pays out. In the instance of an accident where you are not to blame you will very often still be required to pay this amount. This is considered an uninsured loss and Action Claims are able to assist you in recovering this from the other party’s insurer.
Uninsured losses are quite simply anything that you have lost out on as a result of an accident that is not covered by your insurance policy. This could include your policy excess, loss of earnings or damage to goods in your vehicle. Action Claims are here to help you recover these losses.
Credit Hire is when you are issued a hire vehicle on the grounds that the charges will be recovered by the hire company from the fault party’s insurer. A credit hire vehicle will only be provided if the hire company are confident they will be able to recover their charges. A courtesy car is different as they are provided to you by your insurer as part of your policy. Action Claims will always look to provide you with a like for like credit hire vehicle, unlike a courtesy car which will very often just be a small run around.
When one of our credit hire companies is confident they will recover their costs from the other parties insurer they will look to repair your vehicle before the claim has been settled.
By using Action Claims we give you the choice of how you wish to process your claim. This means we can help you avoid having to pay your excess by claiming directly against the fault party’s insurance company. Although you are able to do this yourself, very often the fault party's insurer can be difficult to deal with and do not owe you a duty of care.
Action Claims can look to swiftly get you in a replacement vehicle as similar to your own as possible, unlike a courtesy car, which will often be a lesser model than your own.
